“There is nothing wrong with the paint on my new car…… why do I need to spend money to correct it and protect it?”
A common misconception is that new vehicles direct from the factory have blemish free paint. Sadly this isn’t the case. Under the scrutiny of specialist CRI lights we find a very high proportion of cars with significant hazing, dullness, buffer trailing from rotary machines and sanding spirals (pig tail like marks) from the de-nibbing process. This combined with substandard transportation methods, poor vehicle protection wrapping and paint contamination guarantees a recipe for disaster unless corrected.
Dealerships often offer products to “protect” your new paintwork. GardX, Diamondbrite, Supagard are to name but 3 products often used as they carry a huge mark up with minimal cost to the dealership. Largely these products are applied incorrectly to vehicles on unprepared paintwork under strict time constraints thus meaning that the “protection” offered by these products is often removed after one wash with a mild traffic film remover.
